About BePeace

kidsBlurSmallBePeace is a practice that combines a scientifically tested method for "feeling peace", with a clear path for "speaking peace" that creates an authentic, compassionate conection. As we learn this practice, we are empowered to pass it on, to "teach peace".

BePeace is taught to graduate students from many different countries at the United Nations University for Peace, where they receive 2 credits for the Foundations Course. This course was also offered to 38 representatives from 10 countries at the 2009 Summit of the Global Alliance of Ministries and Departments for Peace.  BePeace has been initiated in many states in the USA, where it is one of the courses in the certificate program of the National Peace Academy.  It has also been offered in Japan, Canada, Europe, and Central America.

The Poem that Inspired a Movement

Rasur o Semana de Esplendor
, by Roberto Brenes Mesen tells the story of a master teacher who comes to the village of Quizur and silently calls the children deep into a mountain.  There he teaches them about the wisdom within their hearts, their connection to nature and how to live in peace with one another. When the children return to the village, they joyfully share this knowledge with their parents, who then awaken to the significance of Rasur’s teachings. Soon Quizur is alive with creativity and has been transformed into a culture of peace.
